For our example review, we compared the DEWALT 20V MAX XR Compact Hammer Drill Kit  with the MILWAUKEE’S 2691-22 18-Volt Compact Drill and Impact Driver Combo Kit. The Dewalt drill was priced at $195.00, the Milwaukee drill was $199.00.

Both drills are cordless and we found that they were quite similar in features. In fact, the only real difference we found was where warranty periods were concerned.

Both companies offer a five-year warranty on their power tools in most cases. Milwaukee also offers free shipping on all purchases over $999, which is quite a bit more than Dewalt’s price on most of their products. 

However, Milwaukee requires that all defective products be repaired within 30 days or they will provide you with a “certificate of non-repairability” (CNR).

What Parent Companies Are Behind Milwaukee And Dewalt?

The Dewalt and Milwaukee brands are made by the Acme Tool Company, who also produces the Stihl brand of tools. The parent company is called TA Truck & Tool. 

The Milwaukee and Dewalt brands were founded in 1880 and 1882, respectively, and were both acquired by United Technologies Corporation in 1998, a Fortune 1000 company based in Farmington, Connecticut.
